FAQs

Who are we?

Outpost Health is a Physician-led healthcare technology organization, powered by innovation and heart.  We have been delivering virtual care since 2014 by Canadian Physicians who saw a need for connected care in remote Canadian communities. Since then, we have evolved into a growing global network of collaborative Physicians and healthcare Providers, delivering care and empowering patients in North America, Africa, Europe, and Asia. Today, we are disrupting the broken system and creating a new standard in human-centered healthcare.

Why Virtual care?

Virtual care (also known as Telehealth) has steadily grown in popularity and demand globally over the past decade. Advances in technology, increased internet and mobile phone usage across the world mean a revolution for the accessibility of patients to healthcare across the globe. Patients are seeking well-trained, compassionate healthcare Providers to get affordable quality care in a new and convenient way. Outpost is unique in that our platform connects patients to both virtual and in-person Providers, anchored with secure health records, clinical and educational tools.

What does working for Outpost Health as a Health Provider look like?

Our Providers practice 21-st century innovative healthcare, with the convenience and freedom to work from anywhere and at anytime. Our Providers work from their existing practices or from home, utilizing downtime to see patients, earn additional income and create massive social impact. You are fully in control of your schedule. You may work any shifts for Outpost on your clinical downtime in your own practice, or work from home during a day off. To promote Provider wellness, shorter shifts (Less than 6 hours) are generally recommended.

With virtual care, while you might not be able to examine patients in person, you can provide immensely valuable services via video and messaging for appropriate conditions - Triage, diagnosis, clinical advice, prescriptions, lab testing, counselling, coaching and patient education. Consultation notes are documented and are available to the patients to view, and prescriptions are sent directly to the patient's pharmacy. Outpost Health does not allow the issuing of prescriptions for scheduled controlled substances or narcotics.

Providers may also be paid for contributing to our content library, and moderating patient discussion forums.

What kind of equipment is required for Outpost Providers to perform clinical video visits?
