In time past, when someone fell ill and needed additional time to recover or extra care, the only options available was relying on a family member to provide care or taking the person to some form of nursing home

But not many people find comfort in leaving their home as this can be disruptive and depressing

Defining Home Care

Home care is a $75 billion dollar a year industry, comprised of more than 1.5 million caregivers. Home care workers range from companion caregivers all the way to skilled nurses and occupational therapists. In-home caregivers focus on assisting their clients with their activities of daily living (ADL's) such as going to the bathroom or maneuvering around the house.

Home care is one of the fastest growing segments of the service care market, and there are a variety of different home care options— offering everything from light housekeeping to skilled nursing.

Because of the many options in home care that are becoming available, people in all kinds of situations can now make it their first choice. Here are five reasons why home care is vastly becoming a popular choice:

1. Quality care is provided.

Home care services means providing qualified and dedicated care in the fields of nursing. This isn’t merely a babysitting service for patients. Home care provides clinicians who possess the expertise necessary to ensure the safety of your loved one and can determine the progress within the recovery process.

2. Home care promotes nurturing relationships.

Sadly, people find that their relationships with loved ones change when they move out of their home.

But patients who can receive care in their own home can welcome guests, invite family overnight, and have private conversations without interruption. They can receive phone calls and house calls whenever they choose with no limit on visiting hours.

3. Home care provides safety benefits.

When an illness makes a family member at higher risk of falls due to reductions in vision, hearing, balance, and mobility. Unfamiliar surroundings can increase this risk as things like rugs or a small step may not be anticipated in advance.

By providing the assistance they need in an environment they know well, home care nurses can reduce the risk of surprises, falls, and debilitating and painful injuries.

4. Fast Recovery for patients

Research has shown that recovery can be faster at home than in the hospital, particularly if there is good quality, skilled home health care available to the patient as they enjoy a much better quality of life

5. A great morale booster

Patients tend to have a greater sense of well-being and overall morale when they are in the comfortable surroundings of their own home.

Home care is a trusted solution for keeping our loved ones safe, happy and comfortable.
